Ever had one of those friends that you have to work really hard to stay friends with?
My "group" in high school consisted of 3 people and me... Our whole class was close, but these were my closest buddies. One of em got my brother fired from his job, one of em moved to Germany, and the other one was my best friend throughout the last 2 years of highschool and the next two years of college. She was, pretty high maintenance, 1 week without speaking in the holidays and she was on the phone telling me I was not a good friend cause I didn't try and call her. Anyways, I got lotsa stories about her but I am not gonna go into em. So when I went to Uni we sorta lost contact a little, but not totally, I was a bridesmaid in her wedding, I moved interstate at the end of it, and we spoke twice during that year, I called her both times and she still managed to make me feel guilty for not keeping in contact. So I purposely did not maintain contact with her after that point, I was finding it hard to keep up the attention she deserved.
Ok so I can hear the other me saying... hold on...Your being slack, just cause someone is high maintenance friendship doesn't mean you should just avoid them. Its true, but its what I did none the less.
So I haven't talked to her for around 3 years now, and one of my friends tells me, oh she asked my for your phone number the other day, is it ok for me to give it to her? I reply, yeah I spose so. So she gave her my phone number and address. When I get back into the state after Christmas I find I have a Christmas card from her asking me to email my address to her. So I did and she emailed me back and asks me to tell her what is happening, and that she has been wondering how I am going, and that she would like to keep in contact through email. I gotta admit, I am a little wierded out, so I leave it a few days and then I reply. Very wierded out, she used to be my best friend, have no idea what happened to all those things we had in common, but oh well.. she knows a little of what is happening in my life maybe she will reciprocate.
Anyways, I am gonna get going cause I am kinda zonked, long day at work!
laters.
