Caught my first baby for the month tonight, cute little girl. Haven't ever had a labouring woman at the Private so it was a little scary but it went fine. Kinda frustrated at the doctor, cause the woman are private they are sposed to have their obstetrician there, so I was gonna do a VE and see if she was fully dilated at 5:30 and he called and told me he was coming up to do it at 6:30... so the I had to leave it. So he comes up and she is fully dilated (had an epidural so she wasn't feeling a lot really) and he decides to get her pushing, so he lets her push twice, then decides he wants to put the kiwi cup on the baby (a vaccuum cup that suctions to the head and helps them effectively pull the baby out). GAH! she was doing fine, the baby wasn't terribly unhappy (we tell by listening to their heart rate) and she could have pushed the baby out without the intervention, but nope, he wanted it over and done with and the baby out.. *sighs* It almost makes me miss the births at the Royal, where at least it was as little intervention as possible!
Throat has been sore this afternoon, hope I aren't getting sick from all this working! I am almost dieing for a day of rest at the moment. Am going out for dinner on Saturday night, and Sunday night with two different lots of people which should be fun so I need Friday to catch some rest. Catch perhaps being the word there!
I am gonna sign off and go to bed I think, feeling rather tired.
