Tonight, was just as bad as last night.
I am tired of work already and I have barely started. Am I supposed to be able to deal with this workload??? 10 patients between me and an undergrad tonight... the undergrad could only take obs. One confused patient, one just back from ICU (intensive care) and one back post operative. So the confused one kept trying to get outta bed even though she was unable to stand safely, she wanted to pee every hour or less. The one that came back from ICU was a little scary, she had a central IV line going into her groin, she had a PCAS, so we capped that off first thing and her iv also. So we did her blood pressure when she got to the ward and then we got busy, so I finally got back to her and she said she was feeling a little light headed, did her BP again and it was quite low. Got her reviewed and had to start up IV fluids again and do her blood pressure hourly, plus do an ECG. So I did it half hourly and hourly and it seemed to be staying the same until 10pm, then of course it started to go down again, so called to get her reviewed again, the evening RMO says call the night RMO, I wanted it sorted quickly before the woman had cardiac arrest... so i call the night RMO and she comes to review the woman, I am freaking, I have all 10 patients notes to write, and I keep getting call bells going off. The guy who came back post op was a huge mommy's boy and a huge wuss. He complained through his girlfriend and mom all night, couldn't say a thing for himself, bloody frustrating! I give up! let the words of my post from the other day echo through all post posts forthwith... "STOP THE WORLD I WANNA GET OFF!"
