Hey,
Well people think I should record each shift so that I have some record of things that happened in case I am sued or something happens.
It was a nice night, I had 5 patients to myself, its was messy as usual when we came on, things hadn't been done, antibiotics were late or not given... but oh well. We gave one guy his antiobiotics twice even though he was sposed to only have em once in 24hrs...eeep! I had one girl who wasn't having major pain according to her obs and visual signs, but complained enough for me to give her stuff, she decided I was the nice nurse so I guess I didn't hurt that opinion, she wanted me to stay on and look after her all night. I had to give another woman some oral stuff called glycoprep.. it makes you poop yer guts out, I got her to drink 2litres of the stuff.. she was sposed to drink three but i didn't want her pooping all night, apparently she had heaps of poop sitting in her bowel and needed a clean out, so she certainly got one, was only able to get onto a pan, so I had lotsa icky poop to dispose of. She was lovely about everything so it made the night not so bad. Oh and I had a confused woman, the doctors came and asked me about her... hell I had only got back tonight so had no idea what she was normally like, but she was confused I found out as the night went on, kept going to the bathroom and coming back and forgetting where her room was. She was getting irritating cause I told her at least 5 times she should ask one of the nurses to go with her to the toilet cause I was worried about her falling over. So eventually I gave her an extra pillow and a sleeping pill and she settled down well for the night.
