The Lady I had been talking about for the last week or so, who was very unwell post having her appendix out, finally passed away today. They took all her attachments out on Thursday and she finally slipped away this morning. It is sad that she died, but I have to say, the way she was, was no way to live.
Another lady I am looking after makes me sad too, her husband has looked after her after her stroke, for the last 5 years he has been her carer, she has a peg in (peg tubes go directly through the skin of your abdomen into your stomach, so if you can't swallow properly you can still be fed), she is all contracted up, she can no longer spread her arms and legs out because she has not used them, the muscles have tightened up and are unable to be able to spread out again. It is no way to live either, but she survives because we keep feeding her. *sighs* Medicine is great... but where is dignity and the point where it should be ceased?
Ok, enough lamenting,
