Last night was a shocker, and I will be very surprised if I have done all I was sposed to. Can anyone tell me why? Why am I always in charge when the staff is either all junior or we are all understaffed... it SUCKS! Last night it was back to 3 RN's and 3 EN's, so all RN's had 11 patients, I had the rooms where most of the admissions went. One of the RN's just couldn't get things done, so I was trying to help her out, plus look after my own patients. We had one guy come back from ICU, during the day who after only 2hrs on the ward was complaining that we weren't looking after him right and that he needed to go back to ICU. It wasn't happening, but I agree... if you want to go to a private hospital go to a private hospital, spare us public peons your angst... PLEASE! We do our damned best under trying circumsances, so gives a break otherwise, and honestly, your care is the best we can do for you, just as good as the private, cause they are us understaffed as we are, the only difference is that you can choose your surgeon in private.
Ok so the Americans who read this prolly wont understand it, cause your system is stuffed and nothing like ours.
