Shitty day at work. I got there and listened to the handover, it was kinda scary. We had one woman who had a met call on her over night, (MET = Medical Emergency Team) she had come back after having a hernia repair, she was elderly and demented, came in from a nursing home. She was okay when I left yesterday but had got very unwell overnight, her blood pressure dropped and she developed a large haematoma at her wound site.
So this mornign just as I started we decided to call another met call on her, we were unable to get a blood pressure on her and her pulse was weak and thready. so most of the day was spent trying desparately to keep her alive. Finally her family decided to make her Not For Rescusitation (NFR) but for normal treatment options. seeing as though her blood pressure was 60 on nothing when I left I don't really hold out much hope she will be there when I get back. Plus I had 9 other patients to look after and medicate along with the EN's I was working with. One with an epidural, who was on hourly obs. All in all, the day just sucked and I am tired out.
Went swimming last night for an hour, I was so tired out when I finished, I need flippers. Aunty Marg swims with the swim teams, she reckons i could, but I would so die within a couple of laps! Oh well, I will get flippers and we will see what we happens next time. Got my legs waxed today so I wont be swimming tonight anyways.
gonna get going now
