Had another scare at work this week, on one of my nightshifts I was supposed to turn a woman's heparin off at 2:30am and get a blood test done to see her clotting, so i turned it off. It was a double pump set and there was maintenance fluid (as in jut salty water) going through the other line which was left on. Her clotting was 166 which is pretty high, so it was good we turned it off, and I got a repeat clotting at 7:45am to check it before she went to theatre. Well when I got back that night they asked whether I had remembered to switch the heparin off, cause theatre had filed a complaint because it was still on when she got there. Little to say I totally FREAKED after the other week's incident. Then I looked up the clotting result, and it pretty much proved that I had turned it off, cause her level was 35. The theatre staff had looked at it wrong and obviously thought that her maintenance was her heparin! The good thing was that the boss and the doctor looking after me asked me about it in the morning and they both believe I turned the heparin off too!
Went to the doctor last night and my blood pressure is 140/110, do you think I am stressed??? He gave me a prescription for some sleeping pills to see if finally get a good nights sleep will help with how ultra lethargic I have been feeling. I have to say after taking one today to get to sleep, it seems to be working, I woke up feeling tired as in I wanted some more sleep, but I wasn't feeling so lethargic. Yay!
gonna go now
