Well its been a long time I know, I am very slack but a lot has been going on. I am baking choc chip cookies at the moment, I have quite a fetish form them and have made 3 batches in the last 3 weeks or so...bad bad eh? But from being sick and stuff I have lost around 20 pounds since after midyear last year, so not too bad.. 20 pounds in 6 months or just a bit more.
So stressy week this week, on Tuesday night we had a big storm with thunder and lightening, Gus seemed scared which was a little unusual, I would find out why a bit later. I walked out to the kitchen at about 11:30pm to find that Gus had vomited and pooped all over his pen. We have been bringing him inside over winter cause its below freezing a lot of the time. So we got him to go outside and moved his pen out there, it was then we saw the blood in his poop, watched him walk over to the side of the yard and he pooped straight blood. We were pretty worried but the closest emergency vet is 45 mins away and with him pooping and vomiting we didn't think we could take him, so we decided to wait for the vets to open in the morning and take him then... if he lived that long :\ So fortunately for us and him he did and it turns out he must have ate something abrasive to his intestines, that was what was causing the blood and he had an infection to go with it. he was given IV fluids at the vet and some antibiotics and we brought him home a new dog that afternoon. So apart from another small vomit day before yesterday he is doing much better which we are extremely pleased about, poor lil doggie.
Then on Wednesday I got other news which I can't share at this moment but am happy about and a sad about too (will share when I can).
We had been trying all this week to get me in to get my drivers license for here, the idea of which freaked me out cause pretty much since I got here a year and almost a half ago I have driven all of once! So we finally got the insurance settled on Thursday and I headed up to the DMV(department of motor vehicles) on Friday with Mikes mom. We got there and I went straight in which was nice cause I was freaking out, did all the bits and pieces, I sat the computer test which i scored 20 out of 21 on and passed well, then I was sitting talking to the lady and she says, "So... who's car are you going to be driving for the test?" I am like... oh crap... "I didn't think I would need to take an actual driving test cause I have my license in Australia" she nods... eeeeep. So I take my mom in laws car on a driving test when i haven't driven in months arghhhhh! Anyways... Hooooooray! I passed lol. Much easier test than in Australia. So now I not only can drive here (hope I remember which side of the road) but i have another formal form of ID which can only be a good thing.... hooray!!!
So now all I have to do is sit my NCLEX and pass it as nicely and all will be happy and joyous in our household!
